Meet Kristin Blondeau, Resident Manager for BMG Laurel
Kristin joined our property management company in Washington, D.C., in early 2022 as a Resident Manager for the Laurel, MD office. She will be celebrating her four-year anniversary with the company in January 2026. Kristin has a unique professional background that has prepared her for this role. Before entering property management, she had a 29-year career as a sleep disorders specialist, owning and operating 44 sleep centers in the Atlanta, GA metro area.
Kristin’s entry into the property management field was, as she puts it, “by accident,” but her experience managing the sleep centers proved invaluable. This included overseeing new construction and remodeling projects, dealing with landlords, contractors, and vendors, and managing utility companies. It’s a balance of customer service, administrative oversight, and operational management.
Kristin’s current responsibilities include acting as a liaison between owners and tenants, handling maintenance issues and property upkeep, performing inspections, and collecting rent. She also ensures legal compliance and manages evictions when necessary.
A Day in the Life of Kristin
Kristin’s day typically starts at 1:00 p.m., Spain time. As she explains, her system involves a high degree of adaptability and problem-solving. A typical day for her includes dispatching and following up on work orders and inspections, coordinating ongoing maintenance, and responding to communications from tenants and owners. She also checks past-due rent and trust account balances and processes move-in and move-out paperwork.
Her favorite part of the job is the dynamic nature of her work. Since no two days are alike, she enjoys the challenge of adapting to new situations and solving problems as they arise.
“One thing I wished people knew about my job is that resident managers must be prepared for unforeseen issues or true emergencies that require immediate attention,” Kristin shares. “This can occur anytime, 24/7.”

When asked for her advice to industry newcomers, Kristin says, “Buckle Up!! It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it.”
Getting to Know Kristin Outside the Office
When she’s not working, Kristin loves to relax by walking her Australian Labradoodle, Bruiser, cooking, and working on the most difficult Lego sets she can find. A bucket list item she hopes to check off next year is visiting the Porsche Museum in Germany.
If she could meet anyone, living or dead, Kristin would choose Henry Rollins. “I admire his humanitarian work, and I am also his biggest fan!” Her favorite book is Wise Blood by Flannery O’Connor. And if she could dis-invent one thing? Cell phones—imagine all the extra time we’d have without them!
When asked to describe herself in three words, Kristin says: Responsive, Dynamic, and Adaptable—qualities that make her a valued member of the BMG team!
